Happy Kitchens

Jan Drolshagen is an expert kitchen remodeler and cabinet maker located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Remodeling a kitchen requires clients to make a lot of design decisions. Jan's HappyKitchens.com website acts as a guide to help his clients make informed decisions. It contains a lot of product information and pictures. Jan is currently adding even more content.

Jan wanted image galleries that met certain criteria. There was no existing image gallery that met his needs so we built one.  Jan can add or remove pictures from his galleries with no special skills or software.

Due to our search engine optimization, as of 7/30/2007, happykitchens.com ranks #2 on google for the search phrase "charlottesville kitchen remodeling".

Smkdlaw.com Launched

May 07 2007

sims, moss, kline & Davis home

Sims, Moss, Kline and Davis is a growing firm that needed a new look for their upcoming 10th anniversary. We setup smkdlaw.com with a new design and implemented a content management system (CMS). The CMS allows the firm to update content in-house, including published articles. This is especially useful now that they have a good deal of frequently changing content: news, publications and awards/judgements.

The home page has a subtle animation. A few of the animation pictures had to have various people and objects "photoshoped" out.

This was a fun project, so much so that we are considering marketing to other law firms.

Charlottesville Area Real Estate Launched

May 02 2007

Charlottesville Area Real Estate Search

CharlottesvilleAreaRealEstate.com is live. The primary goal of this site is to act as a resource for finding real estate in Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Vally. The owner, Dan Corbin, is a local Real Estate agent.

We wanted to include mls listings and ended up using an MLS/IDX service from Solid Earth. It was easy to integrate listings using their basic service. The drawback is that we have almost no control over the look or behavior of the listings and listings search. So we did the best we could given that limitation. The solution is to upgrade to Solid Earth's raw data-feed format. This approach would give us full control over the look-and-feel as well as the ability to layer on additional features (we have a lot of ideas here!). Dan may go this route in the future.

We've also added a news/blog component. This will help Dan keep content fresh and relevant. The entire site is setup with a Content Management System, allowing Dan to update the website content right from his web browser, no special software or skills required.

Lodging Link v2.0 Launched

January 26 2007

Lodging Link - Online hotel reservations for events.

Our second version of Lodging Link is live and handling all the hotel reservations for Youth 2007 SPLAT Convention (SPLAT = Seek, Pray, Learn, Act and Teach) in Greensboro, NC. Anyone can reserve rooms for this event online, selecting from thousands of rooms offered by multiple hotels.

This software was designed for Convention and Visitors Bureaus. Accomodating the lodging for a convention is time consuming and error-prone. Lodging  link automates much of the work, benefiting both the guest and adminstrators. With version 2.0, Administrators can allow Guests to reserve rooms in blocks (configurable).

Administrators can take phoned-in reservations. Usually Administrators know a large reservation is going to be phoned in from a particular group. To ensure the rooms will be available, the administrator can designate blocks of rooms/dates as unpublished. This hides the block of rooms from public view and access.
